Oak Barrel-Aged Blackberry Sangria · Pittsburgh, PA
Armenia has been making wine for over 6,000 years. Armen Geronian brought that tradition to a barrel in Washington, PA — and made a blackberry sangria that arrives already transformed by time and oak.

The Wine
Most sangrias are made to be mixed — a base wine you add fruit and juice to. Armen's Blackberry Sangria starts from a different premise: what if the sangria itself was good enough to drink on its own? That means using real blackberries, no artificial flavors, and putting it through oak barrel aging.
The barrel aging is the differentiator. Oak adds structure, rounds out the fruit, and introduces a subtle complexity that bottled sangria — even good bottled sangria — doesn't have. It's the same reason Armen ages every wine in the facility: because he's seen what the barrel does.
The result is a blackberry sangria with real depth. Fruit-forward but not sweet, complex but approachable. The wine that everyone in the LAB tasting room orders to share, and the one that converts people who say they don't usually drink sangria.
"Oak barrels can turn decent wine into good wine, and good wine into great wine."
— Armen Geronian, Founder

How It's Made
Real Blackberries
Starts with real blackberries — not artificial flavoring. The fruit-forward character of the Sangria comes from the ingredient, not from a flavoring agent.
Fermentation
The blackberry wine is fermented to Armen's specifications — balanced sweetness, proper structure, and the right base to survive oak aging.
Oak Barrel Aging
The same philosophy that applies to every wine in the facility: time in oak. The barrel adds structure, complexity, and the depth that separates Armen's Sangria from what you find on a grocery store shelf.
Tasting Notes
On the nose: fresh blackberry and dark fruit, with a subtle oak undercurrent. On the palate: fruit-forward with structure from barrel aging — not sweet, but rich and round. The finish is medium-length with a pleasant tartness. Best slightly chilled.
How to Enjoy
Slightly Chilled, Solo
Pour into a wine glass, chill to about 55°F. No additions needed. This is the serve that lets the barrel aging speak.
Classic Sangria Build
FLORENA Blackberry Sangria, orange slices, fresh blackberries, splash of soda water over ice. A sangria that doesn't need fixing — but plays beautifully with fresh fruit.
Sangria Spritz
3 oz FLORENA Blackberry Sangria, 2 oz prosecco or sparkling water, ice, blackberry garnish. The LAB's warm-weather crowd-pleaser.
