What Makes FLORENA Butterfly Pea Gin Different

Butterfly pea flower is a natural botanical that turns deep indigo in neutral spirits, then shifts to violet or lavender when the pH changes — when you add tonic, citrus, or any acidic mixer. The color change isn't a gimmick; it's chemistry, and it happens in the glass every time.

Beyond the visual, FLORENA Butterfly Pea Gin is a genuine botanical gin — complex on the nose, layered on the palate, with juniper present but not dominating. The butterfly pea flower adds a subtle earthiness that distinguishes it from both classic London Dry gins and the floral-forward contemporary styles.

Made at Armen's facility in Washington, PA, with the same ingredient standards and quality controls that define every FLORENA spirit. Armen's name is on the label. The gin is real.

"The gin changes color when you add tonic. Every table wants to see it happen."

The FLORENA Gin Process

01

Botanical Selection

Juniper, butterfly pea flower, and supporting botanicals — selected for balance and quality. The butterfly pea flower is the star, but the gin is built to be more than a visual trick.

02

Distillation

Distilled with the botanicals to extract their character into the spirit. The butterfly pea flower infuses its deep indigo color and subtle earthy notes.

03

The Color Change

When acid (tonic, citrus, any mixer) is added, the anthocyanins in butterfly pea flower react and shift the color from indigo to lavender or violet. Every time, in every glass.

How It Tastes

On the nose: juniper-forward with floral butterfly pea and subtle citrus. On the palate: botanical complexity — juniper, floral, light earth — well integrated and smooth. The color: deep indigo neat, shifting to lavender or violet when mixed with anything acidic. The finish: clean and botanical.

Best Served Three Ways

🍹

Butterfly Pea G&T

2 oz FLORENA Butterfly Pea Gin, premium tonic water, lime wheel. Watch the color shift from indigo to violet as you pour the tonic. The definitive serve.

🍸

Color-Change Martini

2.5 oz FLORENA Butterfly Pea Gin, 0.5 oz dry vermouth, lemon twist. Stir with ice. Deep indigo in the glass — add the lemon twist and watch it shift.

🍋

Lavender Lemonade

1.5 oz FLORENA Butterfly Pea Gin, 3 oz fresh lemonade, ice. The lemon juice triggers the color change instantly — indigo to pink-lavender in seconds.
