Not a slogan on the label. A process our distiller runs on every batch, explained pass by pass.
6× distilled means the spirit passes through six distillation stages before it becomes FLORENA vodka. Each pass strips away more congeners, the trace compounds that cause harshness and burn. After distillation, we filter the spirit through coconut shell activated carbon, which polishes out what distillation leaves behind. The result pours smooth enough to sip ice cold and straight, with no interference.

The Mechanics
Distillation separates alcohol from everything else by boiling point. One pass gets you most of the way there. The problem is what rides along with it: congeners like fusel oils and aldehydes that carry rough, solvent-like notes. Each additional pass through the column narrows the cut, keeping the clean heart of the run and rejecting more of those trace compounds.
That is the whole idea. Not magic, not marketing. Just repetition with a tighter cut each time, and a distiller deciding where the heart ends.
| Stage | What it separates | What you taste if it stays |
|---|---|---|
| Early passes | Water, solids, heavy compounds | Muddy, cereal-heavy spirit |
| Middle passes | Fusel oils, heavier congeners | Burn at the back of the throat |
| Final passes | Trace aldehydes and esters | Sharpness, a hot finish |
An Honest Answer
No. Past a point, extra passes strip character along with harshness, and some spirits are supposed to keep their character. A bourbon distilled six times would lose everything that makes it bourbon. A single malt would lose its reason to exist.
Vodka is different. The style rewards purity, and corn gives FLORENA a natural sweetness that survives the column. Six passes is where our distiller found the balance for this grain: clean enough to drink ice cold and straight, with the soft corn sweetness intact. That is a decision about this spirit, not a law of distilling, and we would rather tell you that than pretend a bigger number is always a better one.
“The number on the bottle is not the point. Where you cut the heart is the point.”

The Finish
Activated carbon works by surface area. Steam-activated carbon is riddled with pores, and as spirit passes through, trace impurities bind to those surfaces instead of staying in the liquid. Carbon made from coconut shell is prized for its fine pore structure, which suits the job of polishing an already clean spirit.
We use it as the finishing step after the sixth pass, not as a shortcut in place of proper distillation. Filtration cannot rescue a rough spirit. It can put a final polish on a good one, and that is exactly the job we give it.
Start to Finish
USDA certified organic American yellow corn. No synthetic pesticides, no GMOs. Verify the certification.
The corn mash ferments into a low-alcohol wash, the raw material every later decision depends on.
Each pass narrows the cut and drops more congeners, building toward a clean, neutral heart.
The final polish, removing what distillation leaves behind.
Brought to 40% ABV and bottled in Washington County, Pennsylvania.
Taste It
A clean spirit matters most where it has nowhere to hide. In a three-ingredient drink, harshness has no cover. These are the builds where our distillation shows:
The 6× distillation and coconut shell filtration described here apply to our FLORENA vodkas, including FLORENA Diamond and FLORENA Curve. Our Butterfly Pea Gin is made by a different process built around botanicals, and our liqueurs and wines are made differently again.
Questions
It means the spirit passed through six distillation stages before bottling. Each pass removes more congeners, the trace compounds behind harshness and burn, leaving a cleaner and smoother spirit.
No. Beyond a point, extra passes remove character along with harshness, which is why whiskeys are not distilled six times. Vodka is a style that rewards purity, so six passes suits it. It is a choice about the spirit, not a universal rule.
Carbon made from coconut shell is steam-activated to create a fine network of pores. As spirit passes through, trace impurities bind to those surfaces. We use it as a finishing polish after the sixth distillation, not as a substitute for it.
Not entirely, and that is deliberate. Organic corn carries a soft natural sweetness that survives the column, which is why our distiller stopped at six passes instead of chasing a higher number.
Our FLORENA vodkas, including FLORENA Diamond and FLORENA Curve. The Butterfly Pea Gin follows a botanical process, and our liqueurs and wines are produced differently.
Yes. FLORENA vodka is distilled from USDA certified organic American corn, certified under 7 CFR Part 205 by Ecocert. You can check our status in the federal Organic Integrity Database.
